A Loving Mom

Education is very important in Peru. But few have access to classes on how to be a mom. Partnering with local Bible-believing churches, we will

Offer Parenting Classes to draw the women from the community to the church

Share the Gospel or have a Bible study in each class.

Teach them that without Christ, it’s impossible to be the Mom that God wants them to be.

Show videos on baby development and taking care of a baby

Teach Christian principles of child training while loving the moms and teaching them to love their children.

The last month I worked at Mend Pregnancy Resource Center in Tulsa, I had the blessing of leading 2 of my clients to the Lord. Because most of our clients come from backgrounds that did not include church and do not understand the Christian language and idioms that we use, we try to make things as simple as possible and speak in their English. We normally use either the NLT, ESV, NIV, or sometimes the NKJV to share the Gospel – but many times, even the NKJV is beyond their comprehension. I personally worked mostly with Hispanic clients and most of the time, I shared the Gospel in Spanish and all of the Bible studies I led were in Spanish. sharing-the-gospel-candy

A few years ago, at my church, we did an evangelistic program called “Share Jesus Without Fear.” This method has really helped me to share, let the person read God’s Word, and let the Lord draw them to Him if it is His timing, and if not, at least a seed has been planted.

This is a basic example of how I present the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ.  It will change some depending on the person I am talking to and the questions she may have.

Me:  God has written us a letter so that we can know Him and have a relationship with Him and have eternal life.  This letter is called The Bible.  God has a plan for us and He wants us to know His plan.

The first thing God wants us to know is this.  Please read the highlighted portion. [I give them a copy of a New Testament with verses I have highlighted and I go to those verses and ask them to read them out loud one at a time.]

Romans 3:10  As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one.”

Me:  What do you think that means?  (If she needs to, I have her read the verse again.)

Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Me:  What do you think that means?  (If she needs to, I have her read the verse again.) I then discuss what sin is – sin is anything we Do or Think that does NOT please God and that breaks one of His commandments. [Ask about some sins she has committed.] Sure, consequences for sins may vary from person to person but God sees our hearts and to Him, all sin is equal – and because of our sin – we cannot have a relationship with God.

“I’m assuming you have a job, right?  And do you get paid?  J  How would you feel if on your next payday, the boss gets everyone together and says, ‘Thank you all so much for working.  This time, we’re not going to give out paychecks, but keep up the good work.  We really appreciate it!’ How would you feel?!?

“No, it wouldn’t be fair, would it?  Why?  Exactly!  Because you EARNED your pay!  You deserve your wages!

OK, now read this next highlighted verse – but just until you come to the line.” [and I’ve put a line in there before when I highlighted the verse].

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death,

So what do you think that means? Me: “Yes.  Because we have sinned, we deserve death.  Our wages is to be separated from God forever.  That is what we deserve because we have sinned. Now read the verse again – but this time, read all the verse.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

What do you think that means?

Me:  “So if I have this Bible in my hand and I say ‘____, I want to give this Bible to you as a gift.  While it’s in my hands, is it mine or is it yours?’”

Right, while it’s in my hands, it’s still mine because you haven’t accepted the gift.  You have to receive the gift and then it becomes yours, doesn’t it? God wants us to accept His free gift too.

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

What do you think that means?

John 3:15-16 15 so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

What do you think that means?  (Discuss Jesus dying for us.)

John 3:17-18  17 God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him. 18 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him. But anyone who does not believe in Him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.

What do you think that means?  (Discuss that those who do not believe are already condemned.)

Ephesians 2:8-9 8 God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

What do you think that means?  (Discuss that NOTHING we do can get us to Heaven.  We cannot boast of any good works to get us there.  Only GOD can save us by HIS grace when we believe in Christ.)

John 1:10-12 He came into the very world He created, but the world didn’t recognize Him. 11 He came to His own people, and even they rejected Him. 12 But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God.

What do you think that means?  (Discuss again that not everyone accepts the free gift of eternal life that Jesus offers and that many reject Him.  But to everyone who believe in Him, He gives them His free gift of eternal life and a relationship with Him and He makes them a child of God.)

1 Corinthians 15:3b-4 Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.4 He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

So HOW does a person accept that free gift of eternal life from Jesus?

Romans 10:9-10, 13 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

When we truly realize that we have sinned – that we have done things that do not please God and that we have thought things that do not please God, and because of OUR sin – Jesus died in our place and paid for the wages of our sin.  When we repent and are sorry for our sins and we ask Jesus to forgive us for our sins.  When we believe in our hearts that Jesus is God and that He died and was buried but He Rose Again – then we are believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and we give Him our lives and trust Him as our Savior.

We do not have to say exact words, but in our hearts and in our own words, we talk to God and ask Him to forgive us and to make us His child, that we believe in Jesus as God and that He died in our place and rose again and we give Him our lives.

When we do this, we become a child of God and a new creation.
